We are pleased to announce Kaiser Permanente as Inland Empire United Way's June Company of the Month!
Kaiser Permanente has committed to sustaining healthy communities in the Southern California region for more than 65 years by providing expert medicine, great doctors, connectivity through electronic medical records and kp.org and supporting organizations and program that promote healthy communities. Kaiser Permanente's Community Benefit programs ensure good health extends beyond their doors by investing significant resources to improve the health of our communities through the eradication of health disparities and focusing on services to underserved communities.
For more than 10 years, local Kaiser Permanente medical centers have supported Inland Empire United Way in a variety of ways. Through the annual Kaiser Permanente Community Giving Campaign, Kaiser Permanente employees from the Inland Empire raised $181,258 – a 4.4% increase from the previous year! These contributions make a significant difference in the lives of low-income individuals within the local community.
In addition to the generosity of Kaiser Permanente employees, the Kaiser Permanente Hospital Foundation – Fontana and Ontario, selected Inland Empire United Way's Kids Pack program to receive $15,000 from the Community Benefit Grants Program. The Kids Pack program is aligned with Kaiser Permanente's priority of improving social determinants of health through increased food security by providing backpacks of weekend food to homeless and very low-income children. Kaiser Permanente also sponsored the printing of the 211 San Bernardino County Blue Book. Approximately 220 copies of Blue Book Directory will be distributed into the hands of professionals working on the front lines of the health and human services system, putting the full range of resource information at their fingertips, promoting prevention and differential response.
Kaiser Permanente employees are also active in the volunteer realm. In collaboration with Arrowhead United Way and IEUW's HandsOn Inland Empire, Kaiser Permanente employees will embark on their third "Makeover" of a local community clinic, this time at the Inland Empire Community Health Center in Bloomington. Kaiser Permanente provided a grant for the paint, supplies, and items to rejuvenate the clinic. On Saturday, June 23rd, more than 100 Kaiser Permanente employees will paint and enhance this clinic, providing a warm and welcoming space for its patients.
Inland Empire United Way is grateful for Kaiser Permanente's partnership and support for our community. Thank you to the many employees of Kaiser Permanente for LIVING UNITED and helping children and families in need!
