“Mom, look! I have my own bed!” are the happy words exclaimed by 4 year old Josh.
Erica and her son, Josh, through circumstances beyond their control, found themselves experiencing homelessness, scared, and with no place to go. Thanks to the partnership between Inland Empire United Way and Foothill Family Shelter, Erica and Josh were able to move into an apartment and have a place to call home. Foothill Family Shelter provided not only for their basic needs: shelter, food, and clothing, but also provided them with a sense of relief and protection.
Throughout the move in process, Josh was in awe that we would be provided with his own bed to sleep in. He kept saying “Mom, look, I have my own bed too.” The partnership between The Foothill Family Shelter and Inland Empire United Way allowed Josh to have something that many of us take for granted–his own bed.
The Inland Empire United Way and The Foothill Family Shelter seek to break the cycle of homelessness by enabling and empowering the homeless population through providing families with the basic needs and skills that allow families and individuals to become self-sufficient.
