The School Tools
Teacher Resource Center provides disadvantaged children with the school supplies they need to learn and succeed. At our School Tools TRC, local teachers have the unique opportunity to “shop” for supplies for their students and classroom once a year – completely FREE of charge! This opportunity is located in Rancho Cucamonga and can accommodate a maximum of 15 volunteers and a minimum of 5 volunteers.. Volunteers are needed in the School Tools TRC for the following duties:
- Help teachers “shop” for new supplies at our School Tools Teacher Resource Center
- Assist in the check-in and check-out process
- Stock shelves and create unique displays
- Sort product donations in the warehouse
- Work on other fun and creative projects!
The Kids Pack program supplies homeless and very low-income school children with backpacks filled with nutritious foods each weekend, when school meals are not available. The Kids Pack program is available in our community to ensure that displaced and underprivileged children do not go hungry and are better able to succeed in school. This opportunity is located in Rancho Cucamonga and can accommodate a maximum of 15 volunteers and a minimum of 5 volunteers. Volunteers are needed for Kids Pack for the following duties:
- Sort and separate food deliveries
- Assemble food in bags for students
- Special holiday and other creative projects
Cards for Kids
Through Inland Empire United Way’s Kids Pack program, 1,700 children receive backpacks full of nutritious food each weekend. Your thoughtful greeting cards will bring a smile to a child facing difficult circumstances, including homelessness or food insecurity. These friendly cards will be placed in the backpacks of Kids Pack students to help brighten their day during this holiday season! This is a fun activity for volunteers of all ages!
Launch Point & Promise Scholars
College and Career Information Nights
Engage with students and their families at a college and career information night to provide accurate information on an assigned college and career topic.
Business Leader Presenter
Prepare and deliver a 20 minute presentation sharing your college and career stories with our 6th grade students. By sharing about your educational path and career, YOU can help students begin thinking about their futures so they can achieve their dreams! Get involved in your community and show our students what possibilities lay ahead of them!
Campus Tour Guides
Give an informational and engaging campus tour to students attending college field trips. Connect with students about college life and the values of college by answering questions and providing an educational experience!
Financial Aid Workshop Facilitator
Support local families by assisting high school seniors and their families with their completion of FAFSA or California Dream Act application to obtain financial aid for college. Receiving training on how to facilitate a group and answer questions regarding financial aid.
211 is an easy to remember three-digit telephone number assigned by the Federal Communications Commission for the purpose of providing quick and easy access to information about health and human services. 211 San Bernardino County Community Resource Advisor (CRA) responds to calls, collects information, performs caller assessment, provides information to persons seeking help, conducts follow-ups and assists with a variety of special projects.
Position Requirements: Strong computer skills and competence in Microsoft Office. Must undergo a background check.
Help Desk Support Assistant
Inland Empire United Way is seeking an enthusiastic volunteer to help our IT Director with computer support issues.
- Inventory control of PCs, laptops and general hardware
- Installing software for PCs and laptops
- Upgrading hardware and software for desktop computers
- Installing, configuring and maintaining Windows laptops and desktops
- IT support for desktop/notebook computers, printers, and other peripheral devices
Position Requirements: Knowledge of desktop operating systems and Microsoft Office applications. A commitment to a providing a minimum of 8 hour per week. Willingness to work in a friendly, happy, fast paced non-profit environment. Must undergo a background check. Hours can be adjusted to accommodate the volunteer’s needs but must be within M-F 8am – 5pm. Inland Empire United Way is a non-profit organization that serves to better the lives of communities in San Bernardino County and East Los Angeles County.
